Tweens, Twi-hards, and Team Edward Shirts

SOOO last night, Audrey, Heidi and Amy and I returned to the scene of many of our freshman year-crimes: the Green Hills movie theatre (Funscape!). The wait was over….the day had arrived….
It was time for ‘New Moon.’
After debating whether or not to use Heidi’s wheelchair to bypass any lines, we decided just to go at 10 and hope for the best. It was fine. We got good seats, snacks and sat around for two hours - commenting on all the ensembles, discussing Chaz Bono’s ‘GMA’ interview and listening to a TERRIBLE country playlist that looped like six times - while waiting for it to start.
The theatre was hot. The previews were ‘meh’ (all mopey Nicholas Sparks adaptations). There was almost a fight between some drunk guy and the girls in front of us. Everyone was getting super-antsy.
It was all worth it.
The movie was amazing. I still have chills! It was 50x better than the first! Less hokey, more action-packed, way better-acted. Melissa Rosenberg did a bang-up job adapting the screenplay. ‘New Moon’ was my least favorite book in the series because I thought it dragged a lot, but the movie moved along well. The soundtrack killed in this one, too. Less emo, more cool, electro-ish. (I’m still really, really, REALLY surprised Thom Yorke did a song for it, though. But it’s a good song, btw).
I can’t wait to see it again.
(P.S. That above photo of me was at Charles De Gaulle airport after returning from 5 days in Berlin. Don’t judge the haggard appearance. Or the choice of literature, okay?).
